is 104bpm a healthy heart rate at almost 6wks in pregnancy?
I had a ultrasound at 5wks and 6days of my pregnancy due to a little spotting which the doctor said was caused by implantation. The heart rate was 104 bpm on this ultrasound. is this generally a good heart rate at almost 6wks? was just wondering if that is considered a high heart rate, as ive heard higher heart rate can help determine the babys gender. I’m currently heading into my 9th weeks.

I’ve heard and read that it can be normal to have a low heart rate at 6 wks. If your Dr wasn’t concerned I wouldn’t be either, just wait till your next appt. it will be faster :D

104 is a little on the low side

i think the rate of the heartbeat determining the sex is just a myth. but as far as i am aware, a baby’s heartbeat is always at least double the rate of your own, so 104 seems a bit low. did you ask your doctor at the time?

Normal is 120-180.
At first my babys heart rate was in the 160’s.
Then throught out my second trimester n beggining of third it dropped to the 130’s.
Since 36 weeks its been in the 150’s.
but im prettty sure if it was a problem your doctor would of told you something, be sure to ask next appointment for him to be honest and let you know how your baby is doing.

Yep mine was 102 bpm at exactly 6 weeks. Had scans at 7 and 8 weeks due to spotting and at 7 weeks it had jumped to 140 bpm and at 8 weeks it was 171 bpm. I am now 17 weeks and i have a home doppler so i can listen to the babys heartbeat and its steadily been in the 150s. The heartrate and gender thing isnt true by the way its just a myth.

Dont listen to anyone that says 104 bpm is too low, at the point the babys heartbeat has just begun to beat and anything between 90-120 is normal for that stage. As you can see mine was around the same as yours and my baby is fine and found out last week that its a girl! :)

A normal fetal heart rate usually is between 120 and 160 beats per minute. However,if your doctor felt there was something wrong. He would tell you.

Well usually lower heart rates say its a boy and higher heart rates is a girl. I do not think this is always the case! Good Luck with everything!

At the end of week 5, the heart rate is about 60 – 90 bpm. In early pregnancies, the actual cardiac rate is less important than its presence or absence.

The heart rate will vary as your baby grows. If it was cause for concern, your doctor would have mentioned it.

As far as the gender prediction, if the heart rate is over 145 beats per minute, it most almost always indicated a girl. If it was under 145 beats per minute, it was a boy.

My sons heart rate was low and my daughters heart rate was always fast, so I do believe in that.

From your heart rate, so far, I would think its a boy.

Good luck!!!!
Take care.

That’s a very good rate… My baby’s heart rate at 6 weeks was 100 and then at 7 weeks was 128… on average it goes up about 3.3 beats per day… Congrats!
