Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 31, 2011

Sponsored by Montgomery Heart & Wellness, Boston Scientific Corporations Close the Gap, Advanced Nuclear Consultants and the Johnsie and Aubary Montgomery (JAM) Institute of Medical Education and Research based out of Houston, Texas, this year’s meeting focused on the information people need to ensure a healthier, more vibrant life. The meeting took place on Saturday, October 22, and the attendance reached approximately 150 people.

Speakers took the opportunity to share their stories with the crowd, in hopes of changing the way the attendees viewed their health and body.

One speaker, Daphne Bell, got on stage and told the crowd her personal story of losing her husband, former NFL player Todd Bell, to sudden cardiac arrest due to a heart attack. Her story struck a chord with the audience, many of whom have heart disease. Bell, eager to help others, warned that, even people who appear to be healthy can die suddenly of a heart attack. We should all check to see if we have a family history with heart problems.

Sheila Lewis, another speaker at the event, shared her story of how she completely reversed heart disease by changing her diet. Lewis went from having 85% blockage in a major coronary artery to having a normal, healthy heart in just 5 months.

Dr Stefano Sdringola of the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston, addressed the group on the importance of preventing chronic illnesses such as heart disease. Dr Sdringola is a co-investigator of the Century Study, a multicenter study looking at the effects of lifestyle changes can have on preventing and controlling heart disease.

Dr. Baxter Montgomery, of Montgomery Heart & Wellness, took the opportunity to speak with his fellow neighbors about how following a minimally processed, plant-based diet is effective in reversing heart disease and other chronic illnesses. Dr Montgomery has utilized his food prescription approach to medicine to help many individuals reverse their chronic illnesses without medications for years.
